Artist Statement:
"I was supposed to organize my room, but instead I organized my mind."
I don’t like to be too serious. I like to play. I like to have fun.
The title of this series is the root of the drawings’ origin; I was supposed to organize my room, but instead I escaped to the living room, drew some shapes, and then colored them in.
Playing pilots my work. My guiding principle is to have fun; the everyday routine and its rules- the daily shoulds and should-nots - should not matter when I create. The paper is carte blanche, and so is my attitude.
The 99.99% groundlessness of my process grounds me, centers me. The exercise of drawing lines, connecting them into shapes, then into forms is meditatively systematic- it is tidying without being a chore, cleaning without being a bore.
I also (don’t believe I mentioned) don’t like to be bored.
I like to play.
I like to have fun.
